Bradley Gee to Lead Trinity Lutheran Seminary’s Advancement Team
The Rev. Bradley A. Gee, of Farmington Hills, Mich., has been named the Vice President for Advancement at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Gee is a 1987 graduate of Trinity and previously served as the seminary’s Director of Admissions from 1991 to 1995.
As the Vice President for Advancement he will oversee the offices of Development, Admissions, and Communications.
“He comes to us after a prayerful and deliberate time by me to seek out, find, and enlist the very best person for this role,” said President Rick Barger upon making the announcement.
“Brad understands and sees the rapidly changing culture and shifting landscape of the church and our 21st century context,” Barger added.
Gee has served as the senior pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills since 1995. While at Hope he oversaw five major capital campaigns and four building programs. He also was the catalyst for the development of a new congregation in South Lyon, Mich. Prior to his call to Hope and to Trinity in 1991, he served as pastor at All Saints Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio.
“I am compelled to begin this new chapter of ministry by my love for Trinity, my experiences as a parish pastor, and a strong commitment to prepare pastors and other leaders for a dramatically changing church, in a dramatically changing North American culture,” said Gee.
“As President Barger shared his vision for the future of Trinity, I was struck by the similar perspectives we shared and I was energized by our conversations…I am honored to serve Trinity in this way,” he added.
“Brad comes to Trinity for the same reasons that I came – to form leaders for Christ’s church at work in the world – and with a belief that Trinity’s best days are ahead. Together there will be a total team effort that is passionate, mutually respectful, mutually affirming, and aligned—one mission, one vision, and one voice to move this seminary forward,” said President Barger.
As Director of Admissions in the early 90s, Gee was a member of the Advancement Team that included the Director of Major Gifts, the Director of Alumni Relations, and the Director of Communications. He has been a voting member to the ELCA Churchwide Assembly, provided leadership at the synod level, and served as an internship supervisor.
“I look forward to leading the seminary’s Advancement team. Working together in the areas of student recruitment, development, communications, and constituent relationships, we will develop a unified strategy to complement and amplify President Barger’s vision for Trinity,” said Gee.
Pastor Gee is married to Becky Gee, who currently serves as the Director of Worship, Music and the Arts at Hope. She is also a registered nurse, who in addition to her congregational ministry, works as a Head Start nurse in a suburb of Detroit. The Gees have three children, Kristen, Seth, and Ashley.
